The Oregon Ducks traded seats once again with Florida State after week 10 of the college football season. Enjoying a bye week seemed to be hurtful to Oregon’s favorability in the polls. The Seminoles took care of business against Miami with little resistance. FSU quarterback Jameis Winston continued to lead his offense to victory as well as put on another Heisman worthy performance.
The Seminoles and the Ducks are likely getting tired of being jostled around in the rankings. Both teams are eager for a chance to face reigning champion Alabama. FSU fans showed their enthusiasm for a shot at the Tide following their win over the Hurricanes by chanting, “we want Bama!” The Crimson Tide countered days later with a jab of their own. T-shirts began to go on sell Wednesday that sported the message, “You don’t want Bama.”
Both FSU and Oregon are armed to the teeth with offensive weapons. College football analysts are continually debating which team would be the more formidable match for the Tide. Alabama head coach Nick Saban is famous for his ability to coach his team in blocking out distractions from the media, it is difficult to assess whether or not the boys in Tuscaloosa are succumbing to the pressure. So far, Alabama has taken care of its opponents with little resistance. They will have all the pressure they want when they host the Louisiana State Tigers in week 11.
The Crimson Tide is not the only top team facing a tough fight in week 11. The Oregon Ducks will likely have their biggest challenge yet when they meet Stanford early in the week. The Cardinals are hoping to rebound after an embarrassing loss to Utah earlier in the season that knocked them out of the national title discussion.
Week 10 was loaded with top ten bouts and week 11 is following suit. Undefeated Baylor will face a scrappy Oklahoma team on Thursday night. Amid all of the discussion as to who is the real No. 2 team, Ohio State remains out in the cold in the opinion of voters. The Buckeyes are still undefeated under Urban Meyer, but they have not faced any impressive opponents during the 2013 season.
