UWG’s Career Services office will hold a free, public Resume Clinic and Cookout Tuesday, Oct. 1, outside the TLC.
The event will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will offer hot dogs and hamburgers. An opportunity to win a gift card to a local business establishment will also be offered.
The Resume Doctor will be on hand to review students’ resumes and give advice for job seekers.
“Students can bring copies of their resume,” said Vicki Hardin, Associate Director for Career Services. “Bringing a paper copy of a resume not only opens up the opportunity to receive feedback from Career Services and other business professionals, but also will act as an entry to win a gift card.”
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has sponsored the annual cookout for four years because of their interest in gaining rising UWG students as interns, as well as enrolling them in their management trainee program.
“They enjoy meeting students in a more casual setting than a career fair or interview,” said Hardin.
Enterprise’s management trainee program is designed to instruct students who are new to the business world, and gives them the opportunity to learn how to manage a million-dollar business. The courses begin with orientation and classroom training and move to hands-on training with proficient mentors will ensure that students will find corporate success.
Hardin said the event is a goodwill outreach from Enterprise aimed at showing appreciation for UWG and it’s students.
“It is a thank you gesture to UWG for providing them with great employees,” says Hardin. “And it is another way to get their name and opportunities out to students.”
More activities are being planned for the cookout, and will be announced by Career Services as the date approaches.
