Carrollton has its share of take-out restaurants. There is pizza, wings and Chinese. However, it wasn’t until recently that the city welcomed a new take-out business with a menu that catered directly to seafood lovers.

Great American Seafood Catch is located at 201 Brumbelow Road, in the building Off Campus Wings once occupied. The restaurant is owned by 22-year-old Tre James who said he came up with the concept in a short amount of time after visiting Carrollton to look for a building.

“Within 24-48 hours I came up with this seafood concept,” said James. “Here we are a month and a half later. There was no seafood in Carrollton. Everybody can do wings, so why not seafood? Everybody loves it.”

Since the building offers a limited dine-in area, customers are able order items for carry-out or delivery. The last delivery order is taken 30 minutes before closing time. They deliver up to a seven-mile radius with a $5 minimum purchase and $2.75 delivery fee.

The menu is filled with many items; jumbo shrimp, whiting, tilapia, catfish, fish and shrimp tacos, clam strips, chicken tenders and wings. They even offer desserts like cookies and mini brownie bites.

Not sure what to get?

“I like our chicken tenders,” said James. “They’re hand-breaded. They’re fresh. It’s not like a little bit of chicken with a lot of bread. I also really love our jump shrimp. They come with Cajun seasoning, a little parsley to make it beautiful and lemon. Everybody loves a little lemon with their seafood.”

One of the most important things to remember about Great American Seafood Catch is that all of the food is made fresh and cooked to order. In fact, their motto is to “Respect the fresh.”

“Our mission, our slogan, our creed, our motto, what we live and die by is to respect the fresh,” James said. “Sometimes our guests will experience a little longer wait time for things, but we guarantee they’re going to love it because we respect the fresh here.”

James continued to explain that the restaurant was focused on being a part of the community. He wants the business to contribute significantly to the area.

“We’re about community,” said James “Wherever we open up a business, we’re about enhancing the community; through jobs, through new restaurants where they can get great food and bring their family to, a business they can be proud of.”

To further cater to the idea of giving back to the community, Great American Seafood Catch offers a 10% discount to University of West Georgia students every day between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. with their student I.D. There are also weekly specials that can be found in the restaurant and on their Facebook page.

The restaurant is open Monday through Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. with various closing hours during the week.
