The American horror drama The Walking Dead, based on a comic book series of the same name, will be back in full swing with its mid-season return to AMC on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. This show, about a group of people who happen to find one another after a zombie apocalypse, has been talked about since its premiere on Halloween in 2010.
The number of viewers per episode has gradually risen since the start of the show with 3.35 million viewers and has peaked with the first episode in season five with 17.3 million viewers. This proves that it just keeps getting better in the opinion of the audience.
By tuning in every week and forming bonds with these characters that we learn more about each episode is a driving force to watch this show. The characters that we love, and even those we love to hate, get more complex and interesting with every passing week. This brings viewers to ask so many questions of what shifts and changes will occur in the upcoming episodes of season five, like “Who will be joining the rest of the characters, and what will they be doing to ensure their survival?”
The new promo video for the second-half of season five premiered earlier in January and received much attention when Michonne (Danai Gurira), the once mysterious newcomer with an awesome skill of using the katana, stresses the fact that they need to find a place where they are safer and where they can do better than “just make it.” After the death of the beloved Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the crew were able to pull themselves back together to look for this place.
Though the trailer does not make it known as to where the cast will be heading next, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) says in the video that instead of having fear motivate their destination, they will be “running toward things and hitting things head on” for the next eight episodes that make up the rest of season five.
The devoted fan base for The Walking Dead is waiting patiently to see what the group will face after a few losses, the addition of new friends and the transition to new places.
