Suwanee Town Center is hosting Project Green’s fundraiser the Taste of BBQ Festival on Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to sponsor children whose parents are unable to afford summer camp. All of Project Green’s profit from this event will be used to help sponsor these kids to The Back to Basics Summer Camp for Kids. This family friendly event hosts live music, fun activities and delicious foods for guests to feast on.
“The best way for us to be able to raise more money is via the sales of the sampling tickets,” said Patrycja Siewert-Towns, the coordinator of the non-profit event Suwanee Taste of BBQ and is the founder of the nonprofit Project Green.
There will be live music by local artists and an artist market. Additionally, the city of Suwanee will have a farmer’s market operating at 10:30 a.m and will run through the afternoon.
“We also have a huge kid’s zone with bounce houses, little trains for children, little play areas, basketball,” said Siewert-Towns. “It’s definitely a family friendly event. You could make a whole day out of it.”
Entrance to the event and parking is free. Food sampling tickets cost $1 and can be purchased from Project Green. The vendors will have full plates for purchase at their regular prices.
“If they’re not there for the BBQ, donate $5 and if you’re there for the BBQ, please buy the sampling tickets.” said Siewert-Towns
While the BBQ companies’ menus are a mystery at the moment, Siewert-Towns says to expect brisket, pulled pork, ribs, stew, corn, potato salad and many other classic dishes that are typically served at BBQs.
“Black Tie BBQ is very good,” said Siewert-Towns. She also claims that Smoking Girls BBQ is another delicious establishment to check out.
“We want everybody to be able to enjoy it even if you’re not going to come and buy any BBQ,” said Siewert-Towns.
