With UWG’s 2018 spring semester winding down to a close, the university’s Center for Student Involvement has their hands full, but they are still planning events for the fall semester. Associate Director for Student Events and Programs, Emily Teitelbaum and the rest of UWG’s Center for Student Involvement staff are very busy during the end of the year with multiple events. They are working on a couple of events on campus such as the annual Spring Fling and GloRage. Planning these events has consumed the majority of the Center for Student Involvement time, but they are still looking towards the future.
The Center for Student Involvement will be hosting their annual Back to School Blast the night prior to the resumption of classes. Similar to the Spring Fling where the UWG students celebrate a semester of hard work, the Back to School Bash celebrates the beginning of the fall school semester. The Back to School Bash will supply students with multiple activities to entertain them throughout the event. There will be t-shirt giveaways, rides, free food and fireworks shot off for the students to celebrate the beginning of a long school year.
“For the fall we will have plenty of events. We will have the Back to School Bash, ofcourse Homecoming is always huge, and we will have other weekly events that have not yet been determined” said Teitelbaum.
The huge week of homecoming will begin on Oct. 15, and the events will be scattered throughout the week. The Center for Student Involvement will be hosting events such as a 5K spirit run, a pep rally, and a homecoming parade prior to the football game. UWG’s homecoming week will end with their football game against West Alabama on Oct. 20, and during halftime of the game the university will announce the winners of homecoming King and Queen. Students will be able to enjoy themselves, and celebrate the accomplishments of their homecoming King and Queen while watching Wolves’ football with alumni from across the world.
The Center for Student Involvement will also be holding their weekly activities for students to participate in throughout the fall semester, but these two events are high upon their priority list. The university strives to make these events memorable, and the Center for Student Involvement is already planning to do so.
